Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

I am looking for a VoIP service. I want unlimited local and long distance calling in the United States. Please post a link and explain why you think I should choose that company. Thanks!

Is there any other VOIP service that allows you to use your existing phones in your house like Charter does?

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

I am currently on Charter Digital Telephone (VOIP) and they issued me a Arris Touchstone Modem which allows me to use all of my existing telephone wiring and phones. Problem is though Charters’ telephone service stopped working. I am in the 30 day trail period and was thinking of canceling and just opting to use either Vonage, Packet 8, ATT Callvantage, Verizon’s VOIP service, or some other VOIP service but I was wondering which one allows you to use your existing house phones without doing any modding to the house phone wiring just simply plugging a telephone wire into any telephone jack like Charters touchstone modem allows you to. Anyone know of a VOIP service that allows you to use your exisiting house telephones?

Best Voip Providers?

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Am just wanting to know who do you think provides the best voip service. I am only looking at one of the top up kinds, from my credit card, as i wouldn’t use one of the monthly plans enough to warrant that kind of service My calls will be from Thailand to Australia. Am interested in very good sound quality.
Thanks to anyone who can guide me to making a good chose

Monday, December 29th, 2008

I just signed up with Teleblend ( https://www.myteleblend.net ) for assurance that my service would not be interrupted (we’ll see about that ). I need to find a company that will not shut down. Willing to pay a little more for quality and consistency.

Complaints in Calling from Yahoo Messenger to Phone by adding credit?

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

I added credit to my yahoo messenger account to make voice calls to India. But most of the time I am not able to make call and this message appears.
We’re very sorry. The Yahoo! Voice service could not make this call right now. Please try again a little bit later. I may get connected once in a week if I am lucky.
How to put this to Yahoo notice or how to rectify this?
I use to make voip calls from my PC and it is working well always.

Could in home, or land telephone lines ever go away? What about rotary dialing?

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

I read a story today that in home land telephone lines are disappearing at a rate of 10% a year, give or take. Of the remaining lines, many are digital VoiP services like Skype, etc…

I have a wonderful old Western Electric rotary dial candlestick phone from the 30’s I use on weekends, when I’m home, just calling friends and family to shoot the breeze. It’s so much warmer and nostalgic than my cell phone, a little piece of history for fun. This phone needs actual, analog phone service like Verizon, ATT, etc provide. It will not work with digital VoiP as the digital service does not recognize the clicks, which in reality is just about simple analog voltage changes.

There are still some people without cell phones, albeit few… I wonder if phone comapnies will drop land lines in a few years. I hope not.

My antique, restored, candlestick phone will become a worthless paperweight.
