Receommendations for an IP Telephone Service?

April 7th, 2009 | Posted in Voip Services   Add Comment

I woulod like to give up my home phoneline and sign up for a VOIP solution. Based on your personal experiences can you give me any recommendations?

Apart from low cost, I would like the service to have the following functions:

911 Emergency calls can be made
Able to select a local phone number (eg 901 as i live in Memphis)
Free incoming calls (these are the majority of my calls)
Voicemail
CallerID

any ideas?
Should have made my question clearer - sry! Cananyone give me recommendations for a VOIP service provider based on these requirements.
Many thanks!

Kim

Can I use my cellphone as a headset for VoIP?

April 6th, 2009 | Posted in Voip Services   1 Comment

I have my cellphone (RAZR) connected to my computer through a USB line. Is there any way to use this like a headset for a VoIP service like Skype?

About to sign up with Onesuite, any current users out there?

April 6th, 2009 | Posted in Voip Services   2 Comments

I stumbled upon Onesuite.com from one forum and checked their website. Looks legit and seems they got good service for a cheap price. Anyone from Yahoo answers have experience with Onesuite?

Prepaid and VoIP in one account seems a nice combination.

N800-Worth the cost?

April 6th, 2009 | Posted in Voip Services   1 Comment

I’m a huge internet nerd, and was looking around for a decent priced internet tablet. I came across the Nokia N800 for $225, so heres where my question comes in;

I’m looking for a good device that can surf the net at reasonable speeds over wifi, that can read PDF books with a display that can actually see the words, and something that can play the occasional song or two. Also, a VOIP service would not go amiss.

Anyway, is the N800 worth buying, or should I skip it and look for another product? Thank you!

What is the CHEAPEST Flat-Rate Land-Line Phone Service with Unlimited Local Long-Distance Calls?

April 4th, 2009 | Posted in Voip Services   1 Comment

I recently got a 30 day free trial of MagicJack service 2 MJ devices (but I’ll probably order more!)

I’m trying to lower the costs of land-line cell phone service but still keep it for basic service emergencies.

I’m in the process of applying for telecommuting call-center jobs, but as their systems don’t work with cell phones or VoIP, (which MagicJack technically is) as MJ is not compatible with alarm systems, satellite etc., MJ recommends an emergency backup for 911, I’ll still need to keep the land-line phone.

But all the landline plans are minimum $40-$50 monthly, as they all include features like call waiting, caller ID, etc. which the jobs I need it for, don’t even allow.

As I’ll be using MJ for all non-work calls, I just need the CHEAPEST basic service with a flat rate unlimited local long-distance calls (for work). No frills or fancies.

I’m in metro-Detroit. Anyone know the CHEAPEST land-line plans for $30 or under - just for work emergencies??

What i mainly want is to have as low cost on calls to Greece as possible, even free if it exists and good service quality.

I need solution for long distance service for telecommuter. I will use upwards 8000min mth. No VOIP or Cell

April 3rd, 2009 | Posted in Voip Services   1 Comment

I work doing Customer Service…. the company does not pay for long distance to call into the conference bridge to be able to accept calls. Twice now my long distance carrier, Embarq has suspended my service for violation of the unlimited long distance plan both residential and business. I need an affordable solution…or even a metro line to Austin, Texas.
I forgot to say that this would be for service in the 254 area code…or 76548 zip code…. in Texas.

I have Vonage and the service is less than desirable. Anyone else have some recommendations on how to improve VOIP?
